Where BMW's intercooling system design was enough to help bring this generation of mid-sized M's to their peak, we here at Mishimoto found some weaknesses that we felt obliged to improve on.  The Mishimoto 2015-2020 BMW F8X M3\/M4 Performance Intercooler Power Pack looks at strengthening the weaknesses in BMW's design starting with the charge pipes. It's a common problem with the factory plastic charge pipes to crack under pressure, or split at the seams, a less than idea situation as you pilot your M3 or M4 in any situation. We created a brand new design for the charge pipes that inspire more confidence in handling the boost pressure. Our design features a full aluminum construction, with a cast mid-section designed specifically to squeeze past the intake. Our charge pipe kit also includes a pair of matte black silicone couplers for a sleek and secure connection to the intercooler.  The non-descript silver box is out and the stylish new Mishimoto Performance Air-to-Water Intercooler is in. With a stylish new look, our new design fits perfectly, both in terms of installation and aesthetic, in the M3 and M4's engine bay. The beauty is more than just skin deep too. Our improved core design features a bar-and-plate core with a 29-percent increase in core volume, as well as a unique single-pass coolant flow layout for optimal heat transfer. Combined with our 16-percent increase in flow through the core we were able to record a 12 F temperature drop in intake air temperatures while testing our full Power Pack. However, as with any factory vehicle, some systems have limitations and areas that can be improved. Our engineering team has specifically identified the L5P's intercooler system as one of these areas. As a result, we've developed a performance intercooler kit for the 2017-2019 Chevrolet\/GMC 6.6L Duramax L5P.This kit includes a massive 68mm-thick bar-and-plate intercooler with cast-aluminum end tanks and 3.0in mandrel-bent piping for maximum cooling and flow. Our intercooler is 70-percent thicker than stock and is designed to be a robust unit capable of withstanding high temperatures and boost pressures without cracking. In addition, our end tanks also feature larger inlets and outlets for even more flow. That, coupled with the larger intercooler core, reduces restriction by over 64-percent compared to the stock intercooler.Our kit also includes hot-side and cold-side intercooler piping with DuraCore™ boots and constant-tension T-bolt clamps. Our 3.0in mandrel-bent aluminum piping eliminates the restrictive stock resonator and improves flow by up to 55-percent over stock. Where BMW's intercooler design was enough to help bring this generation of mid-sized M's to their peak, we here at Mishimoto found some weaknesses that we felt obliged to improve on.  We started with the end tanks. The Mishimoto Performance Air-to-Water Intercooler features full, cast aluminum end tanks, TIG welded to our bar-and-plate core for maximum durability as you increase the boost in your Bimmer. Our end tanks also include internal air diverters on both the inlet and outlet to ensure an even flow of charged air through the core. When it comes to the core, bigger is better, and we were able to expand the size of our core in all dimensions, resulting in a 29-percent increase in core volume while abstaining from any modifications when it comes to installation. Our new core also features a unique single-pass internal fin layout for the coolant passage for optimal heat transfer from the charged air to the coolant.  With our improvements combined, we saw the Mishimoto 2015-2020 BMW F8X M3 and M4 Performance Intercooler increase flow through the core by 16-percent and recorded a 12 F drop in intake air temperatures when tested with the Mishimoto Performance Heat Exchanger. We also recorded an average increase of 11whp and 8wtq during our testing with peak gains of up to 31whp and 10wtq. All three radiators were revised from the ground up, starting with the construction. We ditched the slim stock core and plastic end tanks in favor of a full aluminum, TIG-welded construction, sure to stand up to the abuse from the street, track, or drag strip. The primary radiator features a 1.65\" thick core, not only increasing fluid capacity but also the core volume by 31-percent for improved heat dissipation. In addition, the updated tube-and-fin design employed on this radiator also expands the external fin surface area by 57-percent to further improve the transfer of heat. Finally, to ensure a rock-solid core, we also utilized strutted tubes on our primary radiator for a core that resists chassis flex, preventing cracks or leaks in your cooling system. The auxiliary radiators also received a similar treatment and have been revamped with a full aluminum construction. Both cores measure in at 1.57\" thick with a 30-percent boost in core volume and 180-percent increase in external fin surface area for maximum cooling properties.
